Square Enix have announced a developer session for GDC in which they’ll talk about the music in Thief 4, a game that’s been hiding the shadows for a good long time now. Paul Weir will be giving the presentation titled ‘Stealing Sound: Generative Music in THIEF’.
The GDC blurb announcing the session reads: “Developers should more enthusiastically embrace alternative music models to resolve ongoing issues with linearity and to create a musical aesthetic that pushes away from the shadow of film.”
More importantly this session will be “the first public insight into Thief and its generative music engine.” We didn’t know we were meant to be so excited about the game’s music.
All eyes on GDC to catch a Thief, then.
