Industry analyst Michael Pachter has made his first sweeping prediction of 2011 about how well something’s sold. It may be the first of many, but that that doesn’t stop it from being a big one; he thinks that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 sold twice as much as Sony’s PlayStation 3 in 2010’s festive month of December. He reckons the PS3 to have sold 1.2 million units, which is a drop of 12% from the prior, and the 360 sold 2.5 million, up 91%.
We no longer get sales figures directly from NPD, it’s up to Sony and Microsoft the release the numbers themselves. We’ll have to wait and see if they do to know for sure.
