Not news: World of Warcraft is really, really popular. News: the online role-playing game’s recent expansion, Cataclysm, sold 3.3 million units during its first day of release and a total of 4.7 million units during the first month.
The game’s worldwide release was December 7 and, needless to say, it has become the fastest selling computer game evar. Obviously, the single worldwide release helped bolster sales numbers. Moreover, World of Warcraft had an impressive user base of 12 million at the time of Cataclysm’s launch. At this point, you’re in the minority if you own a computer and aren’t playing WOW (not really).
