THQ plans new pricing model for “major franchise”

THQ’s shaking things up a bit, with a new logo announced recently, as well as drastic changes to their pricing system. Not satisfied with the current pricing state of affairs, THQ had tested out a cheaper plan for their latest MX vs. ATV game, pricing it at $39.99 instead of the standard $59.99 price tag. The move was to garner new users that were “being kept out” by the high prices.

THQ is now looking expand the experiment; according to an announcement at their New York City Gamers Event today, they’re taking that pricing plan to another “major” franchise. However, Core Games head Danny Bilson was quick to say that this was “not an official announcement”, but that the hypothetical game in question would “probably be released in 2012”.
