Ubisoft has announced yet another game in the quite highly-acclaimed IL-2 Sturmovik franchise, this time titled IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover. It’s the 1940’s and the war of the skies between the British, German and Italian air forces is the setting for this one, taking place on a large area spanning London and southern England in the north, to Northern France and Belgium in the south including thousands of historical cities, towns, roads, airfields, radar stations, ports, and industrial areas.
A great amount of new aircrafts have been meticulously designed and will be included in the game, about a dozen of which will be flyable with an equal amount to be AI-controlled only. The game will feature a brand new 3D engine with DX10 and DX11 API support which will host a single-player campaign – with customizable difficulty settings – as well as massive multiplayer games with up to 128 pilots dogfighting at once.
IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover will also be released on March 25th, 2011 in the UK on PC, with an added Collector’s Edition featuring the game, a cloth pilot escape map showing The Battle of Britain strategic locations, a replica of the Pilot’s Notes on the Spitfire I Aeroplane and an in-depth 150-page ring binder pilot instructions.
