Mortal Kombat getting webisode treatment

For those who missed director Kevin Tancharoen’s Mortal Kombat short (above), an awesome eight-minute mini movie starring Michael Jai White as Jax and Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade, you’re getting a second chance courtesy of Warner Bros.

Though originally made as part of  Tancharoen’s pitch for a reboot of the film franchise to Warner Bros.,  who owns the license, there will be no new Mortal Kombat movie. What there will be, according to Bloody Disgusting, is a 10-webisode series directed by Tancharoen and penned with Spartacus: Blood and Sand staff writers Todd Helbing and Aaron Helbing.

Shooting is scheduled to take place on location in Vancouver, Canada this February with Black Dynamite himself returning as Major Jackson “Jax” Briggs and as yet to be cast actors and actresses filling the roles of Shang Tsung, Liu Kang, Durak, Kabal, Kitana, Mileena, Sub Zero and Scorpion. As long as this doesn’t preclude the possibility of a Black Dynamite 2, bring on the super saturated slow motion fatalities.
