When Gabe Newell told the world that the PS3 version of Portal 2 would be the best version “on any console” we figured he was just saying that to make Sony fans happy.
Turns out Newell never lies; the PS3 version of Valve’s first-person puzzler has a whole host of very cool bonus features. First up is cloud based storage on save games, meaning you’ll be able to pick up where you left off on any PS3 without transferring saved data. Pretty neat. Cross gameplay and chat between PC/Mac and PS3s version will also be available, a first for the console that will hopefully catch on post-Portal 2.
By far the most awesome part of the pack? PS3 owners also get the game on PC (via Steam)… for free. Two versions of the game for the price of one, sounds like Valve’s best deal since The Orange Box.
Pretty fantastic news for PS3 and PC owners; will the 360 see any of these features? It all makes the wait for Portal 2‘s April release that bit harder.
