Priced and dated just earlier today, the Nintendo 3DS is set to fill the hearts of millions with 3D goodness while, at the same time, emptying their pockets. Among the many differences from previous systems – 3D gaming, video content, analog stick, larger screen, etc… – is one huge and welcome change: no more multiple friend codes.
According to marketing director Laurent Fischer, the awkward friend code system that assigned a different code to each game, a code which was totally different from the actual system’s code, has been pared down to just one unique multiplayer ID code per handheld device. No more talking over Xbox Live/PSN/Skype while trying to find out what your buddy’s Mario Kart code is.
Nintendo just got real up in here.
