Next game to use id’s Rage engine will be “action FPS”

id’s Tech 5 engine (nicknamed “Rage” courtesy of their upcoming game of the same name) has wowed us since its unveiling at QuakeCon way back in 2007. Rage hasn’t even been released yet, but already other developers have staked a claim in the engine for their upcoming games. MachineGames, a Swedish studio formed from the founding members of Starbreeze (makers of the excellent Xbox FPS Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay) will be the first to develop a new game using the engine according to job postings found on Zenimax Media’s job listing page.

No surprise either, the game is listed as an “action FPS”, which seems rather redundant but whatever, at least you know what you’re getting right out the gate.
