New DS2 dev diary: Setting the mood in space

We’ve already seen how lighting affects Dead Space 2, both the game and gamer. But those who played the first game can agree that lights are undoubtedly not the only thing setting the mood in Visceral’s horror IP. There are numerous visual effects going on, separately and in conjunction with each other at any given time and moment, which is only one of the reasons that makes Dead Space such a great game. In the latest developer diary, titled “Smoker and Mirrors,” the team behind the game explores these effects and talks about the UI of the game.

Dead Space 2 is out all over the place on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
