While the Transformers movies we’ve seen in recent years are arguably not fan favorites among the community, High Moon Studios definitely managed to make Transformers: War for Cybertron one, which is why we couldn’t be happier about knowing the same team would be doing Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the tie-in for the movie releasing this summer.
These movie/game combos usually go south before they’re even released, but the fact that this game plays the prologue to the film is giving High Moon liberty to design the game for what it is rather than what it should be, had the studio been strictly demanded to adhere to a movie script.
Dark of the Moon will feature both single-player campaign and multiplayer, and while we know at this point that the campaign will be the prologue to the movie, as aforementioned, there has been no additional info about multiplayer yet.
Whatever we’re in for in the coming months, game director Sean Miller reassures fans of War for Cybertron that we’ll be highly comfortable playing Dark of the Moon. “In terms of similarities, we think people will be excited to know that we’re sticking with a similar control and gameplay scheme from War for Cybertron,” said Miller. “We want you to be able to play in whichever (transformation) mode you want – you’re never without your weapons, but you’ve got choices.”
Activision and High Moon have yet to set a release date, but expect it to be out about the same time as the movie, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
