Well it’s looking like Assassin’s Creed is one of the most popular game sagas out at the moment that doesn’t feature assault rifles, which looks good for Ubisoft, as the latest stab-em-up has sold over six million units.
The company’s third-quarter sales report shows an “outstanding performance” from dance titles including the Just Dance series and Michael Jackson: The Experience, as well. Investment on the Xbox Kinect has also paid off. Ubisoft’s Chief Executive Officer, Yves Guillemot, has stated that “Ubisoft has also made its mark as a creator of new game genres, with its two flagship brands, Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance.
“The record performance achieved in thirdquarter 2010-11 as well as the fact that three of our games were among the best sellers over the crucial Christmas period is further evidence of the relevance of our strategy. Going forward, we intend to continue to innovate and pursue our refocus on key franchises in the high definition segment, while investing in upcoming opportunities in digital, in the casual segment and in future consoles, notably the 3DS and the NGP.”
