Windows Phone 7 and Kinect to link up for cross-platform fun

The recent spike shown in mobile game development due to the Microsoft/Nokia deal that went down last week might just be the beginning as Microsoft announced that a future software update will enable interconnectivity between Windows Phone 7 and the company’s motion tracking sensor, Kinect.

It’s also been reported that during Microsoft’s presentation at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the company demo’ed this link-up using the Dodgeball game included in the Kinect launch title Kinect Sports, developed by Rare. See the video above for a quick demonstration.

Lastly, it was revealed that the upcoming update would introduce multitasking, SkyDrive (cloud storage) support and third-party music players integration; features for other sites to report on.
