With the release of Serious Sam 3 mere months away, Croteam and Devolver Digital have announced a new line-up of Sam games developer by indie teams. The Serious Sam Indie Series will give developers the chance to provide their own take on the franchise across handhelds, PCs, and consoles.
The first three games in this series have been announced, with some exciting talent behind each one. First up is Serious Sam: Double D from Mommy’s Best Games (Weapon of Choice) which is a 2D, hand-drawn side-scroller set for PCs and consoles. Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack by Be-Rad Entertainment (Lame Castle) is a mobile game that has you controlling Lord Mental’s minions in an attempt to kill Sam himself. And finally, the brilliantly-named Serious Sam: The Random Encounter from Vlambeer (Radical Fishing) serves as a twist on classic turn-based RPGs.
These three will be released in the coming months as a build up to Serious Sam 3. Anyone at PAX East this weekend can test out Double D and Kamikaze Attack for themselves.
