US retail giant GameStop has made big steps towards improving its digital services as they’ve announced the acquistion of both Spawn Labs and Impulse Inc.
Spawn Labs brings its own streaming games service to the company. Their tech will be integrated with GameStop’s existing services along with a new user interface to bring streaming HD titles directly to you.
Impulse offers its own digital download service that GameStop will utilize. It already features over 1000 games which is sure to grow into a much larger figure under the GameStop banner. Acquisition is expected to close in May 2011.
