Tying loose ends in Mass Effect 3 via New Game+ “hybrid”

BioWare’s Mass Effect 3 might be lightyears away – for some… most – and given the fact that it’s Shep-time at Game Informer this month, resistance is futile as details on the third and final (final?) act emerge.

Executive producer Casey Hudson revealed that the New Game+ mode implemented in the first game, which let you replay the game fully locked and loaded, will be coming back in ME3 as a “hybrid” between it and the option (as available in Mass Effect 2) to go back and do whatever it is you didn’t do the first time around.

“It’s probably going to be a combination of both,” said Hudson. “We’re going to have a version of the post-game state that you can go back to and finish more stuff, but then we’ll have stuff you can loop back around and do in New Game+. It’s a hybrid of the two.”

Mass Effect 3 is set for a release later this year on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
