Sony’s PlayStation 3 has reached quite the milestone; the console has sold 50 million units worldwide… to retailers that is. The news comes just four months after Xbox 360 announced the same milestone in January of this year. Given the 360’s year-long headstart over the PS3 it could well be that Sony’s machine is catching up, though continuing strong sales of the Xbox in America against slowing PS3 ones cast some doubt over that.
The company also announced that a total of 8 million units of Move hardware have been sold. We’re not sure if that means individual controllers and their add-ons of straight up bundles, but it’s not a bad figure either way.
As we enter these later stages of the console life-cycle, how will Sony make a push to increase sales?
