We got forewarning about this; we knew that the Guitar Hero franchise was getting the axe. Then we heard that it would be kept alive on DLC, and then we heard that it’s not “dead” but just “on hiatus” for a while. And this latest death throe signals what could be the last.
In a post on the official PlayStation Blog, Activision’s Dan Amrich gives a fond look at the series’ early days as a crazy idea cooked up by Harmonix and Red Octane and flashes forward to today, where this month’s track pack signals its “vacation until further notice.” The whole thing reads more like an obituary, but whatever.
To be fair, you really can’t say “never” in this industry. So suffice it to say “bon voyage… until further notice.”
