Having put his legal battle with Sony to rest, hacker superstar George Hotz has donated the rest of the money he was using for legal defense to the Electronic Frontier Foundation. The money in turn was donated to Hotz after he reached out to the community to help him with his lawsuit. Some of the money is Hotz’s own; given to round the donation up to some $10,000.
Hotz wrote: “This money goes to the EFF in hopes that America can one day again be a shining example of freedom, free of the DMCA and ACTA, and that private interest will never trump the ideas laid out in the constitution of privacy, ownership, and free speech.”
Sounds pretty patriotic for what’s essentially sitting in front of a screen and breaking code, don’t it?
