Uncharted 3 multiplayer trailered, futher detailed, new beta date

As advertised, official multiplayer details for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception have poured in along with a new trailer and screenshots.

Listed so far are three modes: team deathmatch, three team deathmatch, and free for all. Three team deathmatch features games of 2 vs. 2 vs. 2, making sure to take advantage of the game’s new buddy system. This is a new feature that partners you up with someone on your team in most game modes, letting you share items and equipment as well as spawning near each other’s location.

Two maps have also been shown off. First up is The Chateau which offers an expanded look at the environment shown in the first gameplay video. Then there’s The Airstrip, which plays out in two halves. The first part of the match is set on a cargo plane trying to take off as three trucks pursue. Players can jump between the trucks and the plane until the match mid-point, which then transports to a more traditional multiplayer map back the the airstrip base.

Naughty Dog are throwing in a tonne of tweaks and improvements to clean up the experience, like late game joining so friends can join mid-match, and added Facebook integration. As confirmed before, split-screen is also included for specific game types, and character customisation is also expanded to weapon customisation, allowing for new scopes and clips to kit out your guns with.

Also new is the beta date, which has changed since our earlier post. The beta starts worldwide on June 28 with two ways to get in; either on specially marked packs of Infamous 2 or by being a PlayStation Plus member.

We’ve got some new screens in the gallery too. They’re all kinds of bright and brutal.

Naughty Dog are promising details on more modes, including co-op, on the run up to the game’s November launch.
