Cohort, the developer behind last year’s PlayStation Move game, The Shoot, has sadly shut its doors. The remaining 25 employees were recently given redundancy notices.
The dev started up in 2006 as a promising Dundee studio. Financial problems started last year when the developer let go of a total of 27 employees, although the team itself had claimed otherwise. The company was working on several projects, but sales of The Shoot were obviously not enough to see them through to completion. They used to carry out contract work on games like MotorStorm and Burnout Paradise City.
Reasons sighted for the closure included “difficulties of being a console developer in a declining console marketplace”.
