Is Portal 2 Valve’s last isolated single player experience? “Probably”

Just wrapped up that Portal 2 single-player campaign meself; pretty good, isn’t it? But – like any videogame fan – my mind’s already racing ahead to what’s next. Namely, is it time for Half Life 2: Episode 3?

If it is then big things could be in store for the series as Geoff Keighley’s app The Final Hours of Portal 2 reveals. The journalist states that Portal 2 is “probably” Valve’s last “isolated single player experience”, meaning multiplayer is likely to be mixed in with their next effort.

One fan quizzed him about this statement on Twitter, wondering if this was from Valve or based on industry trends. Keighley replied: “Good eye! This is coming from Valve, although I don’t have a lot more to share other than what is in the story. I agree it’s a provocative statement, especially given the amazing single player storyline in Portal 2. Keep in mind Valve said ‘probably,’ so I get the feeling that this could change.”

This could be a pretty big deal if it turns out to be true. Will E3 see the Freeman re-imagined?
