Miyamoto promises “meaningful and high-value games” for eShop

Both WiiWare and DSiWare have lived relatively low-key lives since launching on their respective platforms. In the DSi’s case especially, fans have been disappointed by the offerings served up by developers.

Company figured-head Shigeru Miyamoto has promised that won’t be the same with the upcoming 3DS eShop though. He recently told Edge: “Personally speaking, because it’s [for] 3DS, it’ll be 3DS-specific, unique and immediately suitable for 3DS. With downloadable games via eShop we will start to create meaningful and high-value games for 3DS specifically.”

The shop is expected to go live via an update next month. Miyamoto also expressed his interest in seeing more remakes on the shop, including The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
