Anonymous says it’s innocent in PSN attack

And the plot thickens. Today hacking group Anonymous denies any involvement in the PlayStation Network attack that has knocked the service down for the count.

In a note sent to The Guardian, Anonymous denied any sort of responsibility for the attack, but did say that it will continue to “fight criminal activities by corporations and governments” through hacking.

“Public support is not gained by stealing credit card info and personal identities,” reads the note. “We are trying to fight criminal activities by corporations and governments, not steal credit cards.┬áIf a legitimate and honest investigation into the credit card is conducted, Anonymous will not be found liable. While we are a distributed and decentralized group, our ‘leadership’ does not condone credit card theft.”

Sony’s response to the US House of Representatives yesterday indicated Anonymous’ involvement.
