PSN restoration taking longer than expected — Sony

Eagerly anticipating PlayStation Network’s promised return this weekend? Stop.

According to the most recent update from SCEA throat Patrick Seybold, the previously given ‘this week’ window should now be considered null and void.

According to Seybold, “the security of the network and ensuring your data is safe” continues to be Sony’s top priority, meaning no one should expect to hop online “until we can test the system’s strength in these respects,” which is what’s happening right now.

Why give a deadline and break it? “When we held the press conference in Japan last week, based on what we knew, we expected to have the services online within a week. We were unaware of the extent of the attack on Sony Online Entertainment servers, and we are taking this opportunity to conduct further testing of the incredibly complex system… trust me when I say we’re doing everything we can to make it happen.”

No new launch window was given.
