Rayman Origins bumped up to retail release

Originally planned as an episodic downloadable release, Ubisoft’s Rayman Origins will now see a full retail launch, according to the latest issue of Game Informer.

The 2D platformer that serves as a re-imagining of the original Rayman for PlayStation was revealed at Ubisoft’s E3 2010 media gathering, showcasing the armless hero in co-op action. GI also reveals that the title now supports 4-player local co-op play and will cater to both casual and hardcore audiences in its approach that features a normal campaign stuffed with tougher challenges like speed-runs.

Look for it on discs for both PS3 and 360 this holiday season.
