Sony offers free games to victims of PSN shutdown

The fact that the restoration of the PlayStation Network is taking longer than expected after an external attack caused major downtime two weeks ago is disappointing news to fans of Sony’s digital distribution service. The better news is that when things are up and running again Sony plans on rewarding loyal customers for their patience. The prize will be something every videogame player desires: free games.

Specifically, in line with the planned “Welcome Back” program Sony will offer PSN users two PS3 titles from a list of five. PSP users also get two titles, but from a list of four. We’ll keep you posted when we find out exactly which games Sony is making available.
