Activision confirms 2011 Bond entry

Activision’s earnings call yesterday afternoon brought joyous news to James Bond fans: there will be a new game this year.

There are no details whatsoever though. Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg merely mentioned the game in passing: “For the balance of the year, we plan to launch games based on the best-selling X-Men and Spider-Man franchises, James Bond and the toy phenomenon Bakugan as well as the latest release in the long-standing Cabela’s Hunting franchise, which we’re expanding this year to include new peripherals and an incredible Kinect experience.”

Previous speculation has pointed that the new title will be a tie-in and will be developed by Raven Software. But that’s all it is for now, speculation. We’re guessing Acti will make the news officially official during the days of E3 next month.

Last year saw two Bond shooters from the company, on the same day no less; the re-release of GoldenEye 007 from Eurocom and James Bond: Blood Stone from the now-closed Bizarre Creations.
