So it turns out that the sudden move to a June release wasn’t a sign that the Duke could be jetpacking back to development hell. As well as the reassuring trailers that Gearbox have been releasing recently, a ‘first access’ demo is looking for a release next week.
This demo will be ready for gamers who have pre-ordered Duke Nukem Forever or bought the GOTY edition of Borderlands. Emails to gamers from Gearbox is asking for “the most accurate up to date information for your First Access profile.” Players are also asked which platform they wish to play the demo on.
So it’s a sure sign that the game is not going to be pushed back for another 13 years, but will it have been worth the wait? We’ll find out next month when it gets released for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
