After first teasing it late last year, Namco Bandai’s confirmed a new entry to its SoulCalibur series during a presser in Dubai today; a follow-up to 2008’s SoulCalibur IV, the fifth game, the events of which are set 17 years after IV, will be out sometime in 2012 on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, bringing with it new features and improved gameplay.
Sadly, that’s all she wrote (for now). More can be expected at E3 early next month.
Update: Game director Daishi Odashima has added a few more details to the mix via Twitter (via), saying: “Soulcalibur V is a continuation of SC4. It’s not a spin-off or a different series.”
“The story of V is set in the future of IV,” he later added. “The main character is a young man named Patroklos. The hardcore fans should know who he is!”
