AvP 2 ‘not in consideration’ — Sega

Despite earlier suggestions that a sequel to Rebellion’s Aliens vs Predator would happen, it may not. At least not anytime soon. New comments from Sega West CEO Mike Hayes reveal it’s not even a consideration just yet.

He explains: “[AVP] was so successful that naturally you would think you want to do a sequel. But we already had Aliens: Colonial Marines in the pipeline at Gearbox.”

“The Aliens universe is so interesting that there are different things that we can do before we go back to an idea of sequelisation.

“There’s a lot more we can do first before we would consider doing a sequel on AVP.”

A year ago, a quick sequel seemed like a sure thing; Hayes himself said Sega was looking to turn AvP into a franchise, while Rebellion was in talks over a possible follow-up as well. But, not happening just yet then.

Not that Sega is short on Aliens projects at the moment. It has the mentioned Aliens: Colonial Marines coming up, as well a new Alien project from Total War series developer Creative Assembly, which was revealed just yesterday.
