A countdown on Carmageddon.com has gotten a lot of buzz about a new game, or possible reboot of the original manic motor massacre on the horizon. If you don’t know, Carmageddon and its two sequels were racing games that got a whole lot of attention for their ability (and encouragement) to run over pedestrians in spectacularly gory fashion. Well, the good news is, a source close to the project has all but confirmed its existence, yet also makes clear that the game will not be published by Square Enix, who owns Eidos, the original owners of the property. The new developer has yet to be confirmed, even though original developer Stainless is now focusing on producing downloadable titles, which doesn’t leave them out of the running. The countdown ends on June 1, so expect more info on that day.
