Sony’s Xperia Play is getting its first significant exclusivity deal; Gamasutra is reporting that Mojang’s Android port of the ever-popular Minecraft will be available on the PlayStation-certified phone first.
The game will support the Play’s button control scheme as well as touch controls. No time frame was given, but the port will indeed be coming to other Android devices and eventually iOS devices too.
Mojang said of the port: “When playing on smartphones you will have a different screen size compared to PC, different hardware, different attention spans and thus the game needs to be customized to fit the mobile specifications.”
A Minecraft event is to be held on June 7 at E3 this year, so we can look forward to more details then.
