Phoenix Wright gets a film adaption

We have plenty of ideas for plenty of movie adaptions of our favorite games, but one that never crossed our mind? Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

That’s not to say Wright isn’t an awesome game, but the slapstick court battles never really struck us as movie material. Japan obviously disagrees; the official blog for series publisher Capcom has confirmed, following a recent rumor, that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – The Movie is in the works.

The titular role will be played by Hiroki Narimiya, while Takashi Miike is set to direct. You may have heard of Miike from Crows Zero and Thirteen Assassins. The film will be based on the first game in the series, leaving plenty of opportunities for sequels.

It will release in Japan in spring next year. If you’re looking for a translated version there might be some wait ahead.
