EA Montreal founder quits, starts new studio

General manager and founder of EA Montreal Alain Tascan has quit the developer to go off and start his own company, Develop reports.

This new company is called SAVA Transmedia and is a social media and games company, aiming “to connect every screen,” apparently going for smartphones and social networks to start with.

So far, SAVA has job listings for 50 employees, but is aiming to expand to a staff of 200 within five years. Tascan made this statement in connection with the opening: “The combination of social media and new mobile devices has led to the creation of a new market segment for the video game industry. The province of Quebec, and Montreal in particular, rank among the world’s best in terms of video game production, and our goal at SAVA is to now make it the global hub for social gaming.”

During his reign, EA Montreal’s best known titles have been the Army of Two games.
