THQ: WWE gets “rebirth” with WWE ’12

THQ has announced that we’ll see a complete reimagining of wrestling series WWE this year, to be presented at E3. And it’s not a small set of changes we can expect from WWE ’12, if word from the publisher is to be believed.

Firstly, there will be an overhaul of the graphical and presentational side of things, with the company promising “new animations, camera positions, lighting and improved rendering”.

Secondly, the game will have a whole new gameplay system, the Predator Technology, which includes a Breaking Point submission system, new Attributes and a different control scheme, as well as “significant improvements” to the existing Momentum and Stamina systems. Something called WWE Universe Mode 2.0 promises to make fights more unpredictable based on the player’s decisions.

The character creation system from the older games is back, which allows players to build their own wrestler from the ground up, as well as the Road to WrestleMania Mode. Roster-wise the game will have “one of the largest rosters of WWE Superstars, WWE Divas and WWE Legends in franchise history, including cover Superstar Randy Orton, John Cena, The Miz and the debuting Alberto Del Rio.”

How all this will come together in practice, people will get a chance to see at E3, where THQ announces a heavy presence for the game, including the visit of several real-life wrestling stars, including aforementioned Del Rio.
