The footage of third-party games that accompanied the Wii U’s announcement was all from 360, PS3 and PC versions, Nintendo has admitted. Darksiders II, Aliens: Colonial Marines and more were all shown, but it was all running off of competitor’s hardware.
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed this to Geoff Keighley on Spike yesterday. He said that it wasn’t time to show games running on the hardware as Nintendo was “a year away from when the console will launch.”
So what can the Wii U pull off when it comes to HD visuals? We know it has 1080p output, so it’s a safe bet that it will at least match the PS3 and 360 in power. We’re still hoping that it will have a bit of an edge over the both of them as well.
