Sony has admitted that they may may never catch the hackers responsible for the security breach that compromised the personal info of 100 million users of PSN, SOE and Qriocity. In fact, forget finding out who they are, they’re still trying to figure out what they took.
“We do know the information was accessed, we don’t know however what part of the 100 million accounts were taken from our servers,” said Sony’s Kaz Hirai in an interview with the BBC. “For example, it might be 100 million first names, it might be 100 million last four digits of a phone number, it could be the entire account information, we just don’t know.”
“The people that intruded our systems were very good in hiding their tracks as they left our systems,” he added, “so we may not know for a very long time or we may never know.” My two cents, and Sony’s $170 million, is on never.
