It’s safe to say that Nintendo’s announcement of the Wii U has been the shining star of this year’s E3. This is in no small part due to the forward thinking and awesome design of the Wii U’s tablet controller. So, it’s with a heavy heart that we report some inauspicious news regarding the forthcoming console.
In a recent interview with news.com.au, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto stated that the current intent is to enforce a limit of one Wii U tablet per system.
“Our basic premise is that you can use one with a system,” quoth Miyamoto. And what if you want a second controller? “If we got to an idea of having multiple (controllers), it might be just more convenient for people to use their Nintendo 3DS and have a way to connect that,” he continued. And while Miyamoto did say that his group is currently investigating the possibility of opening up functionality for multiple tablet controllers to be used with one console, none of this seems to be particularly inspiring news.
