It just goes to show that building large structures with nothing but your imagination and patience is still popular. Already a popular indie game, Minecraft has showed that the concept is a profitable one as it has now sold over 2.5 million copies. This news was announced by Markus Persson, the creator of the game, on his Twitter feed. “2.5 million sales!” announced Persson, “That’s as much as Diablo 1 and Far Cry, according to Wikipedia.”
Minecraft’s sales also look to receive a great boost from console owners as a Kinect version will be looking to be released on the Xbox 360 later this year. Not only this, but the game is also primed for release on mobile devices including the iOS and the Android. This is a good year for the pick axe wielding gamer.
