Game Republic goes out with a whimper

Game Republic may not be a name you’re familiar with, but their PS3 launch title Genji: Days of Blade is infamous for its incredible E3 2006 showing, featuring that giant enemy crab.

It seems like the studio is no longer with us though; Kotaku is reporting that, following money troubles, the dev’s website has gone offline and the office space is up for sale. Quite odd to hear of a company going under without some sort of official statement.

The studio was run by Yoshiki Okamoto of Resident Evil and Street Fighter II fame and had also developed the nearly-good Folklore for PS3.
