18,000 BioWare accounts compromised

BioWare’s next on the you’ve-been-hacked list; the Mass Effect and Dragon Age developer has put out a word of warning, alerting users to the possibility of unauthorized outside access having compromised the details of 18,000 accounts.

Access was gained to a “decade-old BioWare community server system associated with the Neverwinter Nights forums,” writes BioWare’s Aaryn Flynn on the studio’s official forums. While it’s been determined that credit card data is safe, it is entirely possible that “user account names and passwords, email addresses, and birth dates” are not.

The usual precaution, changing your password, is recommended.
