Trilogies never end in videogames. As soon as the proverbial lid is closed on a seemingly concluded game series, it is then jimmied open for another expansion of the games universe. It now seems that sci-fi shooter RPG epic Mass Effect will be now going the same way as Halo as Bioware announce that the third in the series will be both an ending and a beginning.
The news came from BioWare boss Ray Muzyka himself. “We have more things planned. We’re laser-focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is awesome and epic and intense on a galactic scale, and we want to provide a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy,” said Muzyka.
“But also it’s a beginning on a brand new adventure. The galaxy is at war. It’s a beginning as well as a conclusion.”
Galaxy at war eh? A bit Lucas-esque methinks. Will we be seeing a bigger concentration on combat and tactics in the possible fourth game? Until then, we’ll be looking forward to the conclusion of the Reaper storyline in the next game, due to be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 6th 2012.
