With the first two installments of the Gears of War franchise selling in excess of 12 million copies, it probably would be safe to say that Gears of War 3 will be a solid hit. However, Cliff Bleszinski, the game’s designer, has hopes for more than just a hit. He wants sales to reach the “phenomenal” mark.
“Definitely over six million, obviously,” Bleszinski said, when asked what sort of sales he would like to see Gears of War 3 reach. “But deep down, just to be perfectly candid and honest, I would die if we hit ten – that would be phenomenal. But I can only pray and hope. It’s up to the gamers to vote with their wallets.”
Not a horribly impossible aspiration, with Gears of War 3 reaching over 1 million reserved copies already, becoming Xbox 360′s fastest pre-ordered title, and a slick custom console bundle to sweeten the deal.
