As many will know, Crysis 2 is no longer available on Steam, mysteriously disappearing from the digital service last week.
GiantBomb have found the reason behind the removal, as they contacted an EA spokesperson. A statement read: “EA had nothing to do with Steam’s decision to drop Crysis 2.
“Steam has imposed a set of business terms for developers hoping to sell content on that service,” it said last week, “many of which are not imposed by other online game services.”
According to the website, the real reason is that Crytek had set up an exclusive DLC deal with another digital distributor. Steam took the game down because it would not be able to offer the DLC. While Alice: Madness Returns has been put up on Steam, it’s unclear if future EA titles will also head to the service.
