OnLive to possibly join Microsoft and/or Sony

Note: this is not a buyout. OnLive is doing better and better and when a company seems to go nowhere wrong, it naturally wants to expand, which what Steve Perlman’s cloud-based gaming might be doing in the future. It’s been reported that OnLive is chatting with Microsoft and Sony to bring the service to both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

“There are OnLive guys chatting [Sony and MS], but we’ll see where it goes. But it would absolutely work, we’re ready to work with everybody,” commented VP of engineering Joe Bentley enthusiastically during and interview. “What people are realising and waking up to is everything could be a console, why shouldn’t you be able to take your game everywhere. I think the timing of this is perfect.”

Cloud-based anything and everything seems to be on the edge of booming, so it makes sense that Bentley would say that. He also threw in a brag of a comment, which was fair enough to be included, obviously referring to the company’s own controller. “Our controller is a hybrid between a PS3 controller and an Xbox controller. It’s all compatible, it would just work.”
