Team Fortress 2 tops Steam chart following F2P move

Since going free-to-play late last week, Valve’s Team Fortress 2 has managed quite the feat. It has toppled Counter-Strike as the most played game on Steam. And that’s something.

TF2 has surpassed the competition by a healthy margin even; today’s top games chart shows the team-based shooter’s number eclipsing those of Counter-Strike by more than a third. It’s 97,335 vs 62,224 concurrent players at the time of writing, up from around 70k from last Friday.

Counter-Strike Source is at #3 with 56,815 players.

Team Fortress 2 F2P is available for both PC and Mac, now making its profits from microtransactions.
