Yu Suzuki, designer of such SEGA classics as OutRun, Afterburner, Virtua Fighter, and Shenmue, has said in an interview with Gamasutra that he is leaving his current role at the Japanese publisher.
Suzuki started his own company YS NET in 2008 and has been sharing his duties between this and SEGA’s Amusement R&D Division. From September he will dedicate most of his time to YS NET and only remain with SEGA as an advisor. He has also signed on with Japanese development house Premium Agency as an advisor and executive producer.
The developer recently announced that he is working on a Kinect-based fighting game with Premium Agency. He is also working on mobile game Shenmue Town. Busy busy.
