BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic will not be out for another 9 months according to UK retailer HMV. The store’s website has the MMO down with an April 1st 2012 date, which is a Sunday, so it’s certainly not an exact date. But it could be an indication that the game has been pushed to the January quarter, which has been deemed a possibility by publisher EA.
“Although we fully anticipate launching Star Wars: The Old Republic [between July and December],” CFO Eric Brown said in May, “the low end of our guidance range assumes the outside possibility of a January [quarter] launch.”
The HMV listing goes heavily against ShopTo, another UK retailer, who last week had the game down for a very exact September 9th 2011 launch, which is the traditional Friday release day in the country. So we’re more inclined to go with that one. They’ve since changed the listing though — after a call from EA, perhaps? Fingers crossed — and are now guaranteeing delivery before January 1st, 2050. Funny.
