Media Molecule’s made more of an official comment on the recent news of the studio looking towards new, non-LittleBigPlanet projects.
Calming fan fears of suddenly cutting off support for the beloved series, James Spafford, Media Molecule’s Community Manager, said over at the LBPCentral forums (via): “Yes – we at Mm are currently in the process of thinking of new ideas and new crazy things we want to make for you to play, in order to do that, we need to take a step back from LittleBigPlanet. But we are not vanishing from your lives and nor is LBP – I’ll get some more detail on that for you shortly, but for now DON’T PANIC!”
The details Spafford was possibly referring to have now arrived and, what else, it’s new DLC. Over the coming months, players are in for Infamous 2, Toy Story, and Final Fantasy VII sackboy packs. Grab all the details on the PS Blog here.
The ‘MM stepping away from LBP’ comment came from studio director Siobhan Reddy who was speaking at the Gamelab Conference in Barcelona last week.
Any way you look at it, with the upcoming Double11 and Tarsier-developed PS Vita version of LittleBigPlanet added to the mix, the series will live on.
